How to use analytics to improve your mobile app’s user experience

A user’s experience within an app is the most important factor that determines if the users like an app and will continue to use it or if they will uninstall the app and increase bounce rates.
In this blog post, we’ll explore how to use analytics to improve your mobile app’s user experience.

1.Define the key metrics
The first essential step is to determine the KPIs, which are the key performance indicators that are related to your mobile app

There are different types of metrics, including:

Retention rates:

which is an indicator that measures the number of users return to your mobile app after visiting it for the first time

Session length:

which is an indicator that measures how long a user spend on your application per one session

User path:

which is an indicator that tracks the path your user goes through within your app and highlights the drop-off point or when your user left the application

Conversion:

which is an indicator that measures the conversion rate or how many users completed a desired action like completing a purchase or signing up

Active users:
Which measures how many users are actively using your app

These metrics helps you understand the areas that need improvement in your mobile app and the overall success of your app.

2. Analyze the user’s behavior:

‘Heatmaps’ are visual presentation metrics that show how users interact within an app.
It shows where the user’s scroll, spend the most time, and they tap.

This helps you understand what features are most engaging, where navigation is hard, and the most unused sections and features within your app.

3. Identify the drop-off points

Analytics can help you identify where the user's drop-off which helps you understand the problem and improve the user’s experience.

For example:

Analytics can help you identify any bugs, technical issues, and lengthy registration processes

4.  User feedback and reviews:

Aside from analytics, it is important to gather qualitative feedback from your users through the app reviews and surveys.

It is an important metric to deeply understand the user’s feedback to constantly optimize your app based on what they would like.

It will show any feature requests, suggestions, and any complaints about usability or features.

5. Set a clear goal and KPIs:

It is important to set a clear goal to understand what you are tracking. Determine your goals and the metrics that will help you track and reach this goal.

Conclusion:
The application process doesn’t end after the development process. In fact, the actual work of engaging and retaining users starts after the development.

Analytics is the most important thing in an app, as well as collecting feedback and reviews where you can improve customer engagement and experience based on their own requests and preferences.
